Process:
Once a paper negative has been made, any number of positive prints is possible by this method. Preparation involved soaking nice paper in a sodium chloride solution (table salt) and brushing it with a solution of silver nitrate to produce the light sensitive silver chloride. You would then expose the sensitized paper to sunlight in contact with a negative, resulting in the emergence of an image without any more development. The printed out image was then fixed and toned. Salt prints have a signature softness in the tone which was very popular in that era.
